Artillery scatter-rules

Scatter rules

You all know this situation : Your spotterteamīs located the enemy and called in an artillery-strike : Nothing happend at the targed zone but the shells were fired . Now the big question : Who was hit instead ?
Here are some simple scatter-rules for missed artillery-strikes :
You need two 4-side dices .
                                                                                 4
The first role decides the direction   shot  >>>>   3      1
                                                                                 2

The second role shows the distance to the designated target in sqares .
Example :



The artillery-unit missed the target with the normal Dust-hit-role. Now the unit roles a 3 with the first dice and a 3 with the second dice . The shot hits the sqare with the 3 trees in front of the artillery , striking uncomfortable close to the firing unit ( beware of the area effect )

Wonder if it wouldn't be easier just to use two Dust dice (preferably different colored). One determine column, the other determines row, and it allows the shell to scatter diagonally (or possibly scatter on target!). Even use a Dust die for the scatter distance: faction is one square, bullseye two, shield three.

Hi Carlson ,
iīve used 4-side-dices to reflect the minimumrange for artillery but itīs your choice to use Dust-dices instead of that .  :)
