Contagion Senario
« on: March 24, 2018, 07:37:08 am »

A buddy of mine and I were trying out the scenario that is in the Dust-Nordic list of scenarios.  It was a ton of fun, thanks for putting that out there to play with.  We did have two questions from the rules of the scenario.

1) Can you go into negative VP?  It seems from the way it is set up that you could easily end up with negative numbers.  In the game that we played of 125 point armies on a gridded map 9x12 the final count was -1 to -2.  Is that expected or were we maybe missing the point?

2) Can you kill your own troops?  There is nothing that I saw that would not allow you to target your own units when making an attack.  In one instance I used snipers to remove the last miniature in a unit to drop a contagion token when 3 enemy units where around it.  In another instance towards the end of the match, I was winning by 1 point and a unit was unable to get out of the contagion area so I had my final remaining activation take that unit out so that I could avoid the -1VP at the end of the turn.

Are those fine or did he and I miss something.

Good questions! And I'm glad you liked the scenario (I'll pass that on to Ulf who wrote it).

1) Yes, in the Contagion scenario players often end up with negative Victory Points.

2) I can't find anything in the rules saying that you cannot Target your own Units. However, we play it as the only way to kill friendly units is by weapons that can hit them "accidentally", i.e Artillery or Flame-throwers.

Artillery Targets Squares (not Units) and a Flamer with range 2 or 3 can Hit friendly Units on its way to the enemy target Unit. This is not an official ruling, but it simply feels wrong to have your units fire their rifles or MG's at eachother...

It was great to play.  I agree firing on your own was wonky.
